Lilly Carron on her new single ‘Wild For Change’

Dream indie-pop darling Lilly Carron returns with her first track of 2024, a mesmerising Western-film soundtrack inspired masterpiece, with more music on the way.

Hey Lilly - thanks so much for taking the time to chat to us and congrats on your stunning new single 'Wild For Change'! What were your artistic influences going into this song?

Ahhh thank you! During this time I was listening to a lot of Julia Jacklin and Sharon Van Etten, and was inspired by the way they paint a picture so vividly in their lyrics.

And can you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind this track?

Lyrically I was inspired by my life at the time, feeling stuck in old habits and the same four walls trying to make changes in life to make myself happier and healthier. I was also inspired by western movies - we had wild horse videos up on the screen in the studio and were embodying that Quentin Tarantino soundtrack vibe haha.

Iconic! Plus we wanted to chat to you about your more recent releases including one of our absolute favourites, 'Apricot Sun'! Are you able to tell us about the concept of this song?

Thank you!! ‘Apricot Sun’ is about escapism. You know when you close your eyes tight and picture a place that makes you happy and all of sudden you're transported there? It was really fun to play around with lots of harmonies and ad libs to create a dreamy space for the song to live in that felt like an escape.

That’s exactly how we feel when we listen to it! And 'Ease' has such an amazing soulful groove to it! What was one of your main highlights working on this track?

This was one of the first tracks I worked on for my upcoming project. It really set the tone for how vulnerable I could be in my writing and what topics I wanted to cover.

What can we expect from your upcoming music and how has it evolved from your last big project, your debut album 'Messy Mind' (2020)?

'Messy Mind' came out 4 years ago now which is wild to think, a lot of personal growth occurred in that time and I feel that is reflected in my upcoming music. Where I find inspiration in life and other artists is forever changing. These new songs, to me, feel fuller, more confident and playful.

We can’t wait to hear more from you! What are some of the biggest lessons you’ve learnt in your artist journey so far?

I think the biggest lesson ive had to learn is that there are going to be moments of failure, and that is all part of the journey. Songs might not work out, you might go weeks without feeling inspired or lose confidence in what it is that you are writing. It is so important to give yourself grace, pick yourself up and try again.

What's next for you in 2024?

More music to come! It's so rewarding after working so hard on these songs to finally be sharing them! Keeeeep your ears peeled hahaha

Thanks so much Lilly! Make sure to keep up with her on Instagram, Facebook, Spotify or Apple Music.
