“Salamanders” - AYLA WESLEY
MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE
INDIE FOLK/ROCK ARTIST AYLA WESLEY DELIVERS HER GORGEOUS DEBUT SINGLE PRODUCED BY JACOB GERRITSEN (MARMALADE SKIES) - A LIGHT-HEARTED SUMMERY TUNE THAT IS BOUND TO GET YOU SINGING ALONG.
PASSIONATE ABOUT SHARING HER STORIES THROUGH WAVEY MELODIES, IT’S CLEAR TO SEE HER ABILITY TO DIVE DEEP INTO NARRATING THE UPS AND DOWNS OF GROWING UP.
Alya mentions “Salamanders was the catalyst to discovering my sound. It’s about when a close friend enters a relationship and you don’t see them as much, but you still want to be there for them. It’s one of my brighter songs, so I wanted to create a video that was light and summery (despite it actually being filmed in July). Finn Lloyd (director and editor) has a passion for colour grading and I think he has pulled off the tones amazingly! One of the reasons that the friend I’m referring to in the track and I are close, is because of our quirky sense of humour, so I wanted that to come through as well.”
She says her main inspirations for the music video comes from “Today We’re The Greatest” (Middle Kids), “Dirty Mouth” (Alice Phoebe Lou), and “Everything Goes Wow” (Broods).
“Finn and I filmed it all in my home town and Finn came up with most of the locations; so it was cool to discover some spots I hadn’t been before. My favourite part about filming it was picking up ideas along the way and being like wow we can actually make this happen!”
