DROP OF THE MONTH: #8
“Facade” - Nganeko
Tāmaki Makaurau’s Nganeko returns with her sophomore single & mesmerising new soulful pop track produced by Wells* and HIGH HØØPS, showcasing her glossy, jaw-dropping vocals.
Congrats on your new mesmerising track! Where did you get the initial idea and inspiration for the song?
Thank you so much! I didn’t even know what the word facade meant till I watched one of Kali Uchis’s genius lyric videos on YouTube a couple years ago. I just like the way the word sounds, looks and the meaning. It’s very human.
Can you tell us a little bit about the meaning of the track?
Sure! It focuses on why i kept my inner demons close, why I still acknowledged them and why I choose not to as much anymore xoxoxoxo
What were some of your main highlights working on the song?
Watching Josh and Jordan build the track, I was pretty happy with anything they played but yo that was a buzzy experience watching producers work.
We’re also in love with the stunning music video! What was your favourite part about filming it?
The bathroom scene, in the mirror. For sure. The energy in the room was noice as. It was our last scene of the night & we were all pretty knackered but we were all there together so it was mean!
We always end on a “Would You Rather” so … would you rather have the power to see through people’s facades, or have the ability to see life through someone else’s eyes?
Sick. I would rather have the power to see through peoples facades.
Thanks heaps Nganeko! Make sure to keep up with her on Instagram, Facebook, Spotify & Apple Music.
